Administration of the Demand:
The subproceso of generation of the demand has as main objective to eliminate or to minimize the fluctuations of the demand that cause high costs and a bigger complexity in the logistical processes. A demand with a lot of variability generates some high logistical costs for: the necessity of more personal in the picks (generally to a bigger cost for working hour), necessity of subcontratación of extra capacity of storage and transport, stock excess in the valleys, etc. The volatility in the demand also generates a bigger complexity in the system, making more inexact the forecasts.
This smaller precision leads to two situations: one with surpluses of inventories and another with ruptures of stocks. In the first case bigger costs associated with the inventories exist (possession costs, storage and obsolescence) and in the second, a loss of sales or service with delay (with the consequent loss in service to the client).
